This was such a beautiful account of what sounds like a very challenging time, but also a time full of possibilities and discovery. Every time I read one of your newsletters, I feel quite in awe of how you see the world, and always leave feeling like my senses have been sharpened. Wishing you all the best as you continue through this journey.
As ever, dearest Josie, I am completely amazed by your “way with words.” You make me see, hear, smell, taste, touch and almost feel everything you write about. I too went through opiate (prescribed) withdrawal years ago, so I have some small understanding of how you are feeling. I hope your beloved will be with you again soon to give love, comfort and support. Thinking of you often. Val.❤️
Sending you love and moral support through this challenge Josie. You have such courage and skill at finding positivity in the most difficult circumstances. You are inspiring. Thinking of you x
Thank you for this beautiful and inspiring post. The sheer grit it must take to live with chronic pain and decide to steer clear of short term relief, and still be able to write so well! Amazing
Thank you for this glimpse. I treasure your Wednesday words, they feel like a note just for me and it's even lovelier thinking that everyone else gets that feeling too.
I admire your determination with regard to opiate use and wish you all the best outcomes. My mother takes one of those but at 88 in long term care and with my other huge caregiver demands she doesn’t have access to the support or supervision to even taper.

Dear Josie
I have answered to this post on Insta as I wrote most of my reply on here then it disappeared but as always I loved reading your bimblings🌻xxx
Oh I know withdrawl of old. Best vibes and wishes for warm Sun and gentle beauty coming your way from across the sea.
I’m titrating very slowly off gabapentin/neurontin so I feel with you. May we both be successful and find new joys and experiences along the way.
P.S. I feel compelled to add this: what an absolutely incredible example you are for your son.
Given all of your other genius this and genius that, it does not often get the attention it deserves, so let me say right out loud, right now:
Parenting A+++++++!!!!!!
Be proud, be very, very proud.
Brilliant, in all ways. Simply brilliant - the thinking, the feeling, the writing, and most especially - the doing.
Mad respect. Phew, it's a privilege.
