Thank you. Your beautiful writing and the wonderful view from your new window lifted my spirits on a tough, tear-filled day. Another agent rejection just landed in the inbox. It doesn't matter that the manuscript was shortlisted in major competition, that I've had other books published, no one seems to want this one. The one about the stuff that really matters. And that's hard to bear.
Oh Alex, I am sorry. I don't think there is any 'fairness' in publishing, it all seems so arbitrary, operating by rules and chance and luck that I will never understand. I am sending love for your wounded heart and wishing you strength. It's an incredibly tough business xxx
This is beautiful and so full of hope. A wonderful energy as we head into spring. I'm thrilled for you. Thank you for a different view of your neighborhood.
That is such lovely news to share, Josie. It does sound like a blessed place for you both. This week Lent begins, and I was reminded, reading this piece of yours of the words used in some liturgy 'remember you are dust'. I love these words because I understand them to mean a reminder of our wonderful and indefinable origins and possibility. There is so much in the dust which makes up our beings and our lives. Enjoy your new adventure.
Yes! I wrote a long essay about dust for my Letters From Wonderland postal club that I ran some time ago. It is by far from a depressing concept - dust is miraculous and so are we!
What a great development! A new window to soak in a the view is a great thing, especially when there is so much there to consider. My heart leapt a bit when I saw the engraved arrow; that's a powerful symbol where I live in Tasmania, which was a former British penal colony. There's a mid 19th C. brick wall about 100 metres from here; I was eating my lunch by it on a sunny afternoon a few months ago and suddenly noticed every brick has a broad arrow stamped into it.
Thank you for these words 'because we are bold and clever and not afraid to do things differently', they hold so much power and hope for me today 💕🌿
"Don't get mad, get INVENTIVE!" is very much a life motto here! Sending you love x

Ooh tell me more? What does the symbol mean over there? x
