CEASE FIRE
1.
May we help to create a world
where all people feel safe
and each life is held as sacred.
2.
May we help to create a world
that systematically refuses
to use violence
murder
fear
and cruelty
no matter what.
3.
May we help to create a world
with the creativity and ingenuity
to find new tools and new ways
to solve problems and protect each other.
4.
May we help to create a world
where no one is seen as ‘other’.
Where all people are seen and loved as our blood, our siblings.
5.
May we help to create a world of
abundant, good-natured
friendliness and care
towards one another.
6.
May we steadfastly uproot
our prejudices, bitterness,
dishonesty, impatience,
brittle defensiveness
self-centredness and apathy,
like weeds from the soil.
7.
May we help to create a world
that seeks to free, not to imprison,
to give rather than withhold,
to welcome rather than segregate.
8.
May we help to create a world
where people feel safe
to be honest with themselves.
May we find the courage
to change our minds
and our clung-to beliefs.
9.
May we help to create a world
that uses its
self-awareness
humility
patience
compassion
imagination
and resolve
to address and heal generational,
racial, ethnic and societal
violence and trauma
so that patterns can be broken
and reparations be made.
10.
May we help to create a world
where we each foster peace
in our own small lives,
in every relationship, interaction and action we take.
11.
May we understand that
to condemn war
means very little
if we then spend our days
causing endless acts of harm,
big or small,
with our attitudes, speech and bodies, towards others and ourselves.
12.
May we help to create a world
where every person is free
to live, to move,
work, play, learn, heal,
love and gather
in safety, ease and celebration.
13.
May we help to create a world
where every person involved
in the design, manufacture,
funding, sale and
political deployment of weapons,
all intended to inflict
unspeakable pain and destruction,
can collectively wake up
to their horror and immorality,
and choose a different path.
14.
May we help to create a world of
peace-makers,
diplomats,
advocates,
healers,
artists,
teachers,
rebels,
and innovators
who help to shake up the world
and show us new and exciting ways
to think, to act, to see.
15.
May we help to create a world
where giving up
a bit of what you have
so that others can thrive
is not seen as lack or loss,
but as a joyful expression
and exploration of what happens
when we
let go.
16.
May we help to create a world
where all the people who hold power
decide to represent these ideals,
free from cynicism, corruption,
greed and ego.
May we vote for them.
17.
And may I always, always
have the strength and integrity
to live these words
rather than just say them.
